A Dark Place

This is my Honors Project for Computer Science, SJSU Class of 2018.

This game tries to tackle the complicated subject of Depression, specifically adolescent depression experienced by teens and young adults.  Depression has been on the rise in the current climate and it's more important than ever to create places of discourse to open up conversation about the topic.

 

In the game, you play as Hope (current working name), a high school student who is very depressed.  She has shut herself off from social contact, is being bullied, and is struggling with some major demons.  Initially, it is all you can do to help Hope keep a good mood while forcing herself through school.  When she returns home and goes to bed, she wakes up in her dream world where she must physically and mentally confront manifestations of her inner demons.

 

Sometimes, the hardest battles are the ones that rage within.
